Blueberries are a superfood
I’ve started adding blueberries to my morning chow. I’ve been reading a bit about superfoods and figure why not! The whole superfoods thing could be a marketing scam – but you can’t say eating more fruits is a bad thing.
Blueberries seem to have a lot going for them, so much it almost seems too good to be true. They’re antioxidants, they can neutralize free radicals, help with cholesterol, vision, wow… A lot of info on blueberries here.
Blueberries go pretty well on most breakfasty foods – cereal, yogurt, even instant oatmeal. Frozen blueberries seem to be the most cost effective – and they thaw into an almost syropy consistency. Check the package if you’re buying frozen berries to ensure there is not added sugar. Frozen also seem to be the easiest to find in Edmonton, during December =)
Fresh are great too – just check them for stems and mold. Eating mold is not cool or pleasant..
